BABETT'S TOYS.

——^ — Little Babett, who lived in Nursery Land, had grown too old for toys at last y and when she went to live in Schoolroom Land instead all her toys felt very lonely indeed. "What shall, we do now there is no one to play with us?" sighed the little Green Elephant. "Who will feed us?" asked the little Pink Pig (who was very greedy). "Wild will take us for walks?" asked the twin Teddy Bears (who were soft and woolly). Nobody could possibly answer all these questions, and they were all looking at one another very sadly, when in walked Pan the Piper, playing a merry little tune on [hiis pipe of reeds. "Follow, follow, follow," he piped, "I will find you all a new home—Fol-low!" And he stepped over the window-sill, and floated gentry to earth, and a long procession of little toys followed him. - "We will visit the children who have birthdays'to-morrow," piped Pan, "the children whose parents can't give them many toys." And when they came to Avril's house, WVlUsptoed.-to. the little Green Elephant, "Stand outside the

front door till morning, and then you'll find a little mistress who will love you dearly." An the little Green Elephant went and stood close by the door, as he was told, and the procession of toys went on. - When they eanie to the Tmy Baby** house, Pan said to the little Teddy Bears, "Hop in at the \ window, and sit by the baby's cot. He will love to have you to cuddle, and when he is bigger, he will take you out for walks." And the little Teddy. Bears hopped m at the window and sat by the baby's cot. Then they came to the house where Billy Boy lived, and Pan said to the little Pink Pig, " Wait outside the back door until morning, and when Billy Boy comes out to feed his little black hens he will'be so glad to see you, and he will give you a large breakfast !" And the little Pink Pig toddled away up the path as hard as he could go with his little pink tail curled into ever such 'ft tight little knot. He was very greedy. Soon Pan had found homes for all the toys. When morning came, all the little birthday children they had visited had a lovely surprise, and Babett's toys were as happy as they could be.
