THE KNITTING OLD WOMAN.

A funny old woman Once sat on a stool, And started to knit With bright-coloured wool. She said to herself As she knitted away, "I'll knit fifty jumpers, If'it takes me all day I" That little old woman Sits and knits still/ Her tongue keeps on clacking Just like a mill; For over and over ' She'll cheerfully say, "I'll knit fifty jumpers, If it takes me all day!" This extraordinary lady Has J knitted for years, And never seems tired, Or dejected appears.

She never stops knitting j To work or to play. She never sleeps either— Or so people say. How many jumpers She really gets done, Well, nobody^ knows— Though they guess just for fun; Her hair's fallen out, Her nails have grown long, But she ne'er seems to notice That anything's wrong! Many folks pass her And say, "It is sad, But I think that old woman Must really.be mad!" And still she keeps knitting, And for ever will say, "J'll knit fifty jumpers, ff it takes me all day!" ; THE FAIRY QUEEN.
