Despite more extensive advertising than in t<!ie past, the attendance at our afternoon* meeting was disappointing. The reason for this is unaccountablea» ■the programme-, provided was a nigh-

class one and the meeting was well eonrir,cted. We are loath to think that otir efforts are unappreciated by the local public. As a result of the poor attendance the meeting resulted i» a fairly substantial loss.

We regret also to record the death <x£ another staunch supporter of th» elxiib in Mrs. J. J. Corliss. The deceased lady took an active part in all of the club's affairs. In the I*adies* Section and at our social functions, her help and advice was invaluaible. Our hearts go out in sympaifchy with the (bereaved husband and family. Thanks. Weekly cluib meetings were kedd every Monday evening during the season. No trophies were awarded for these meetings but points were allotted ! towards the various cluib cups. Small trophies were, however, awarded for the children's events each, week, and 'it is hoped that, tl^e small expenditure | incurred will be repaid in the future (by increased in«mbersMp. Championships. V The club was represented by a small team at tho Provincial Championships held at Petone on'the 4th of Febriiiary. The following memibers gained places:— Miss Kenc'it, 2nd 100 yards, ladies; R. Griffiths 2nd in Javelin, 3rd in. throwing the hammer and third in the discus. N\Z. Championship*. ■-■• ■ TheN.Z. Championships were held'at Wangantti on the 14th and 15th March, and the club was honoured by -having one representative (Miss T. Kench) in the Wellington Centre's team. Miss Kettefc. fully justified her inclusion in the team by winning tho 100 Yards 3ff.Z. -Ladies' Championship in tho fast time of 11 1-5 sec., equalling the present N.Z. record. , Miss Ken cli was also a'/niexolb'er of the Centre's re]ay.team which won tho Ladies' Belay Champions-hip. The Biddiford Oup, which is oomipet-, •d.'for annually by ladies' relay team*, was again won by the Wellington OWb teanx. The duties of M.G. were carried out in a very capable manner by Mr. H. Vagg who was al#o responsibie for supervising the decorating of ih.Q kail. Training. W* j can assure them that tieir attendance at the Becreation Ground will* be greatly appreciated. In thifl connection we cannot praise too highly the valuable work performed by Mr. L. Co« during the past season. Obituary. It is with regret that we record the, deaths by accident of two of our "VicePresidents —Messrs J. M. Cameron and E. P. Beynolda.
