END OF SEASON.

"Tito 1930 hockey season was given an enthusiastic send-off on 13th September. ,M(Mii!beTs and supporters of both the local clubs congregated on tho Hutt Recreation Ground for a "Field Day." At 2 p.m the Hutt Ladies' met the Mawhera Ladies' iioekey team, winnens of tho West Coast (South Island) Ladies' Championship.. Tho teams wcro as follows:— Mtuwhera (Grrcynxouth)—Mrs McKauo (chaperone), Misses J. Holder, H. Currie, N. Furness (capt), N. M«<3rrafth, M. Little, B. Milligan,. F. Buston, M. Fumess, C. Hanmam and D-. Deiwer. jjutt-r—Miss V. Frascr, Mesdames Smith and Taylor, Miss McDowell, Mrs Hen die, Mrs. Sundgren, Misses Judd and West. : , The giainc, which was ably «ontrolled by Mr. Crankshaw, was fast, even and interesting. The first spell ended with the local girls with one goal to th« Visitors' nil. Miss M. Fraser was the I scorer. . On resuming both, teams strove to improve their positions. Mawhera held the upper hand fox a period, e 'but it was not until play had been in progresw about twenty minutes that Miss Furness succeeded in breaking ' down Hie defence .and equalised with a good shot. Tho second game was 'between the Senior A and Senior B A Team", of the local club. \ Play was interesting until mid-way through-the second spell when it--became verjr ragged. .The keenness displayed in ehampiorisHip; mateihes .was absent., l^e. Senior A te4m held an advaritage throughout, the' Senior B halves and baeis leaving the opposing foiwards unmarked* on several occasions. The half-time score was Senior A 2, Senior B 0. Scorers were Ju<ld and Crwilliam. The final whistle bleiw with the scores Senior A 5, Senior B 3. Upton, Judd and Marich scored for the A's and Atkinse (2), and Stoupe fo rthe B's. Messrs Maries and Taylor carried t&e whistles and proved efficient referees. The third and final act took place in the Oddfellows' Hall at 8 pJn when the Mewheia (Greymouth) ladies were the guests of the Hutt Valley Indies -'; and Men's Hockey Clubs at a social and dance. Mr. A. J. Ross briefly welcomed the visitors and congratulated them on their display during the afternoon and trusted they would enjoy the remainder of their stay in the Hutt. Dances and games were thoroughly enjoyed. Tie prize winners were:— Miss Moreen Least (musical arms); ,Moss Furness and Mr. Bailey ('bursting paper bags),; Miss N. McMillan and jM>. S. Cbnlin (paper race); Mr and Mrs. W. Dickson (Monte Carlo). During the evening Miss Morrison entertained with two humorotts elocutionary items "The Ladies' Soccer Match" and "Castles in the Air." Mr, E. Taylor' presented Mr. Stevenson 'a trophy for the most improved player in the Junior A Ladies Team to Miss M.- Leask. The '.'Tut Tut Cup" was presented to '' Fos " Lusty '' the most improved junior (?)" by.his team captain, Eddie MeLeod. j TOae supper arrangements were in the capalble hiancls of Mr. A. Mr. Scott (manager) v thanked the committco for their hospitality. The committee responsible for the social were Misses E. Ness and E. Leo- , paTd, Mcssra A. O. Wright,' *S. J. Diatnond, E.
