LOWER HUTT LADIES' MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB.
Al social and dance was held in the Scout Hall, Strand Park on Thursday, September 18th. Dancing and cards were the main items of the evening. Quite a large number of 'both cardplayers and dancers _ attended. There; was a very amusing ■:*' break "in the dancing—a ■*.* balloon race" for ladies and gentlemen, which was won by Mis* Mair and Mr liincker. A Monte Carlo dance was won by. Miss Mair- and Mir Mair. The music was provided by Mr 6. PfioT and Mr. Geo. Skipage. Mr. Donkin was M.C. The prizes for cards was won by Mrs Chudley (ladies) first, and Mr Westbury (gents) first. A splendid supper was provided after w&ich dancing continued.
A very pleasant afternoon -was givem by the Combined Committees of Lower Hutt Ladies* liipiatuTe Eifle Club and Boy Scout mother*. It took the form of a "500" after»«H>n when there was a. large attendance. Mrs Bowley won the iirst prize, Mrs Vaughan second, and Miss WMtcher the consolation prize. There were several competitions during the afternoon. The ladies provided, a splendid afternoon tea which was enjoyed by all. The proceeds of the afternoon will go to the District Scout Committee to further a scheme whereby outlying districts may benefit by visits of the scoutmaster and his assistants.
