ASSOCIATION SOCIAL.

Last Saturday night the Lyceum Hall

was the scene of yet another happy Association function, the occasion being that of the Soccer Club's Wind-up Social for club memibers and tieir friends. The hall was completely filled and all present had an enjoyable time, the evening proving in every way a very successful windup to a very successful football season.

Early in the evening Mr." Arnold delighted all present with' several itmes. on the marimba> the popular melodies proving very pleasing on this soft toned instrument.

A tiny tot, Miss ISTola McLeod—looking like a little pink rosebud—-next charmed all with a most, graceful exhibition of toe-dancing, and later in! the .evening -with a little partner gave a delightful niinivet dance. Miss Lou Morrison, dressed in char.aeter, was responsible for raising many hearty laugSis with two elocutionary numbers entitled "The Plumber" and ;"Castles in the Air." ••'.■' A humorous song by Mr, J. Shadloek was also much appreciated. ! Before supper the presentation .of ' trophies, etc., was made. An apology "was received from Mr. F. Campbell, president of the club, in whose absence Mr. J. Adam, chairman, introduced Mr. J. J. Roberts, president W.F.A., Mr. Duncan, ex-chairman W.F.A.; Mr. L. Mellor, management committee W.F.A.; and Mr. B. A. Ma-bin, secretary W.F.A. Mr.' Roberts, the donor of. the Victory Cup, which was won by the Senior B Team this season, called on t>he cap- | tain, Mr. J. McDougall, to accept the cup on behalf of his team, Mr. McDoivgall suitably responding. , To Mr. J. Potts, captain of the Senior reserves, went a championship certificate, there being no cup for this division. The Championship Cup and Certificate was also won by the 4th grade team this season same being handed over to the captain Mr. Cartmell. To each player of tbese winning teams waa presented a Handsome photo of the team, special enlargements going to coaches Messrs T. Potts and Oartmellsenr., also to Mr C. J. Bird who has so consistently followed up the Senior team throughout the season. In the "course of a few remarks, Mr Dunean made reference to the great progress made by the Hutt Club during ihe past yeaTs, and made eulogistic mention of the good services rendered by the very live and capable club secretary, Mr. Bird. Mr. Mellor also spoke.

The chairman, Mr. J. Adam, expressed the opinion that the Lower Hutt Association Football dub had every reason to be proud of its social committee, which he declared was second to none in the "Wellington district. The committee ladies were specially praised for their whole-hearted efforts on be-

half of the club, their .support being of inestimable value to the club's welfare.

A very tempting supper was then partaken of, all enjoying tie good fare provided. Dancing chiefly occupied the remainder of the evening and surely never were there more hovel prizes than those donated by Mr Adam, for a Lucky Spot Dance. Miss McLellan and her partner Mr McSloy were the winners, to Miss MeLellan going a live rooster (far Sunday's dinner)^ and to Mr. MoSloy an egg brilliantly dyed in the Club's colours. Much merriment was caused by this event.

In the Monte Carlo dance for the committee members^ Miss MeLellan was again very..,lucky in winning a pair of lovely statuettes, her partner, Mr* Harris, receiving cigarettes.1 These prizes were the very generous donation of the M.C, Mr Logan. Miss I. Adam and Mi. Parker were the winners of a second Monte Carlo, the prizes being chocolates and cigarettes respectively.

An impromptu sketch entitled t{ Edgar Wallace's "The (W)ringer" was presented by a number of the club members and created quite a diversion.

Throughout the evening.most excellent music was provided by Messrs MePhee and Wallace of Petone, their spirited, playing being responsible for much of the pleasure of the evening. The Club is much indebted to these musicians as they gave their services gratis.

Auld Lang Syne brought to a close a most successful social.

The attention of Association Dance patrons is specially drawn to the fact that this wind-up social does not mean the finish of the Association Dance

season as the usual fortnightly dance will be held on Saturday, October 4th m the King George Hall.
