DAFFODIL FAIR.

King George Dance Hall.presented a very gay appearance on Friday, the occasion .being a "Daffodil Fair," organised by the St. Stephen's Church Ladies' Guild, and the proceeds go towards the church funds. Mr. W. Nash, MJP., wiho opened the fair, was introduced by the Rev. J Lapdell Mr. Nash, in expressing the pleasure it gave him to declare the bazaar open, said that the considered the social life of all chuPch.es was an influence for good in the whole community.. He considered that in fulfilling its mission, the church was doing a service tlhat no other organisation could accomplish. In conclusion, Mr. Nash said he .thought that "Daffodil Fair" w£s happily suggestive of spring, for <h.e had read "The beautiful daffodil is the golden line (between winter and summer." Mrs Nash was then presented with a very charming bouquet by little Jill Crisholm and Mrs Lapdell with a beautiful floral offering by Pat Barron. There were many well-stocked stalls, with the following ladies in charge:— 'Coke Stall.—Convener, Mrs. R. N. Wilson, assisted by Mesdames McDonald, E. Shearer, Nicholls, Marshall and Mainlands. Novelty Stall. —Convener, Miss Feist, assisted by Mrs Jenson and the Misses Stansell and WallaceSweet Stall.— Convener, Mrs Rogers, assisted by Mesdames Bayley and Doig. Book Stall.—Mr. Anderson, ConveneT, assisted by lan Barron, Roger Doig and Graham Wilson. Plain StalL —Mesdames Stiles and Bardic. KitJchen.—Mrs Barron. Produce Stall. —Mrs Lambert, Con-, vener, assisted by Mesdanues Fergusson and Renner. ' Flower StalL —Mesdames Brown and Jones and Miss Gray. Children's Corner.—-Convener, Miss Oarfcwright, assisted by the Girls' Auxiliary. Afternoon tea was served in an annext, and here, as well as in the hall, the deerations were of daffodils. The ladies in charge were Miss -o.iien, convener, and Mrs H. Shearer, Mrs. Bur-[ ton, Mrs Carter, Mrs Winter, Mrs Yoiaag and Miss DeaL
