TAITA CEMETERY BOARD
A meeting of the Taita Cemetery Board was held in the Council Chambers, Lower Hutt Wednesday afternoon. There were present the chairman (Mr J. Mitchell) arid Messrs W. G-. Lodder,, W. Dyer, J. W. McEwan: and W. "Judd.
Mi: Judd moved that applications for grants be made to the Petone and Lower Hutt Borough Councils and Hutt County Council.Mr Mitchell seconded.—Carried. . On the motion of Mr W. Judd it Was decided to grant the Sexton two weeks holiday. . Mr Mitchell brought up the question of raising interment fees. - Members considered that it was not advisable* to raise the fees, as a large number of people would not be in a position to pay. ' On the motion of Mr Mitchell a hearty vote of thanks.was passed to Mr Dyer for his generosity in supplying rubbish, receptacles and paint for the gates at tlie cemetery. The tar-sealing of the paths in the cemetery was left in the hands of the chairman and treasurer (-Mr W. Judd).
Mr Lodder said that those who visited
the cemetery gTeatly appreciated the improvements that had been made.
A letter was received asking if the board would refund the purchase money oh a plot, the plot to revert back to the board. The Board considered the request to be unusual, but decided to agree to the request.
For the sum of £40 the Board agreed to keep a certain grave in good repair and to plant' various desired plants.
