The mystery surrounding the discovery in an unconscious condition of a cafe proprietor in Huntly on Tuesday took a sensational turn late yesterday afternoon when the proprietor himself who was the victim of the suspected assault, Charles Kitchener Blackmore, aged 22, was arrested by DetectiveSergeant J. Nalder, of Auckland, who has been in charge of the investigations. Blackmore was arrested upon his discharge from the hospital and he was charged with the unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl of 13 years. This morning he appeared before the Police Court at Huntly to face the charge and was remanded to appear at Auckland on Monday.
