Members ex-' pressed gratification at this assistance and decided that letters of thanks be" sent to the donors. The Levin division of the St. John Ambulance Association wrote reporting that at the association’s recent show its members had dealt with seventeen cases of casualty. Appreciation of the division’s work was voiced and a grantof £2 2s towards its funds was made. The Horowhenua Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Club forwarded a copy of its annual report, gave notice that its anual meeting was to be . held on March 6th, and asked the association to appoint a delegate. Mr, R. W. Evans was reappointed. Mr, iS. B. Mexted drew attention to the fact that at the last show a large number of members’ tickets, which rvere marked not transferable, had been used by persons other than members. He said it was noticeable that children in particular used member’s tickets. It was decided that in future thefickets should ha\ r e the name of the member written thereon, thus making it easier to prevent transference. Laudatory reference was made to the work of Mrs. A. iS. Macfarlane in connection with the last show and particularly in the sale of tickets for the pony raffle. It was stated that the excellent result of this competition was largely due to her efforts. It was resoHed that a letter of appreciation be sent Mrs. Macfarlane.

Mr. Kilsby suggested that for the next show a large prize of £2O or £25, with an entry fee of £1 or £1 ss, should be allocated to the hunters’ jumping competition. He pointed out that at other shows this had attracted a better class of horse and also a large number of entries. Moreover, horses which came from a distance to compete in the major event were nearly always entered in other classes. The meeting gave general approval to the suggestion and decided to keep it in mind ■ for consideration at a later date. Appreciative reference was made to the assistance given by boys at the Weraroa Training Farm in preparing the grounds for the show and also while the show was in progress. The secretary was instructed to write to the manager and express the association’s thanks. Mr. feilsby raised the question of painting the association’s buildings at the showgrounds, stating that he considered the time had arrived for this [ work to be carried out. Messrs Colquhoun, Lancaster, Parsons and Kilsby were appointed a sub-committee to deal with the matter. ' It was decided that letters of thanks be sent to the following:—Miss M. Cameron and Mrs. Hector McKay, for judging the cookery classes; Dr. L. J. Hunter, for judging the stamp classes; Mrs. S. Speedy, for her work in connection with the home industry section; Mr. F. Secretary’s Work Praised. Mr. H. J. Lancaster referred in glowing terms to the work of the secretary. He said that during the last three years the association had progressed in. leaps and bounds, and more of its success was due to Mr. Goodwin than most members realised. The president remarked that the association had a secretary of whom it could be justifiably proud. He was cognisant of the vast amount of time which Mr. Goodwin had devoted to the work in an endeavour to strengthen the association’ affairs. Messrs Mungavin, Kilsby and. Macfarlane also added their tributes to Mr. Goodwin’s work.
