DOMINION BASKETBALL TEAM.
DEFEAT OF NEW SOUTH WALES (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) MELBOURNE, August 19. The New Zealand basketball team defeated New South Wales, 21 —18. The New Zealand team comprised M. Tangye, E. Neame, a, Willson, M. Howe, M. Martin, M. Matangi and J. Mitchell. The visitors had slightly the better of the game, although New South Wales gave a good, clean exhibition. The New Zealand forwards were affected by the smaller goal rings and heavier ball. The winners had most of the play but their shooting was inaccurate. Victoria defeated Tasmania, 33 —12.

The Australian council is in favour of the formation of an inter-Empire body and an invitation has been accepted to attend the first meeting in New Zealand in .1940, at the same time as the Centennial tournament.
