TEST ABANDONED.
DEATH KNELL OF FOUR-DAY MATCHES.
FUTURE GAMES MAY BE FIVE OR SIX DAYS.
Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) Received Tuesday, Midnight. LONDON, July 12. The Test match at Manchester , has been abandonee. There was drizzling rain at 9.30 and the weather was so dull that the factories around the ground were working by electric light. The Daily Herald’s writer (Mr. Charles Bray) says; “This unplayed Test has perhaps done more for the game than any recent Test. I will go so far as to say we will never again have four-day tests in England against Australia. They will be either five or six clays. “Almost the sole topic of conversation during the clays of waiting has been the length of future tests. I have been amazed to discover such tn influential body of opinion supporting six-day matcucs which would not take cricketers from the counties for more than two matches which already happens with the four-day games. The Australian Associated Press Manchester correspondent states that the allotment of five or even six days would not have produced a result there as the Test was a complete washout. However it strengthens the probability of fiveday tests in future tours which would not interfere with the county championships more than the fourday matches.
