They were caught offi side and Shannon found an advantage |in the kick, penetrating deep into the home side’s twenty-five. Wanderers had to accept a force and from the drop-out play came back to midfield. C. McDonald and Bond were next associated in a move which led the home forwards right down to the Shannon line, where a “sacks on the mill” stopped them scoring. A scrum went down on the live-yard mark, and in the succeeding few minutes Shannon strove vainly to get free by erratic passing bouts, all of which were smothered by the home stalwarts. An exchange of kicks brought Shannon out of the trouble. The Wanderers full-back (Graham) endeavoured to find touch from centre field, but the ball fell short and Anderson gathered it in to make a fine solo run. Shannon failed to hold the ground they had gained, Wanderers forwards taking play down to the visiting twenty-five with a close dribbling rush. Here Shannon wore caught offside, and Broughton again raised the flags. Wan-* derers (i, Shannon nil. From a scrum on the half-way line Coulter, the Shannon half, shot the ball out to Xepia and he forced his way through the opposition. He transferred to I. Cameron, but the latter missed his pass and the ball rolled into touch. Half-time sounded with Wanderers six points up. After tlie oranges Shannon kicked off and Wanderers forced their way downfield to the line, the visitors obtaining relief through receiving a penalty. From a ruck Anderson emerged with the ball and the Shannon forwards penned Wanderers in their own domain. They fought hard to get within striking distance, but eventually the Wanderers forwards swept to the other end of the field in a fine concerted move. The game came back to midfield and from a line-out Heppolite received the ball. He ran round the forwards and cut clean through the opposing backs to score a fine solo try. Broughton missed the kick. Wanderers 9, Shannon nil. Wanderers now had the upper hand and never looked like being beaten.
