HUNGARIAN TABLE TENNIS PLAYERS.
AUCKLAND TAIL TO WIN A SET (By Telegraph—. Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Lust Night. The science and technique of table tennis as displayed by the visiting Hungarian players, Viktor Barna and Lazio Beliak, emphasised the marked progress the game had made in recent years. When these two well-known exponents met Auckland players in matches on Saturday night, the experienced Hungarians characterised their tactics by their facility of movement and agility which was a big factor m the accuracy of difficult shots. The cleverness of their opponents often caught the Aucklanders napping. The cup presented by Mr. H. V. Choyce (president of the Auckland Table Tenuis Association) for the member of the home side giving the best performance against the visitors, was won by K. G. Cantiay, New Zealand champion. Not a single set was registered against the Hungarians. Results: Beliak boat Boys, 21-11, 21-14; Barna beat B. Baton 21-12, 21-14; Barna and Beliak beat Baton and 1. Drabble 21-12, 21-10; Beliak beat Cheal, 21-11,21-14; Barna beat Cantiay 21-10, 21-15; Barna and Beliak beat Cantiay and H. Boys 21-14, 21-10, 21-13; Beliak beat Switt 21-12, 21-15. In an exhibition match Barna beat Beliak 21-16, 23-21, 21-17.
