McKELVIE SHIELD CONTEST.

LEVIN SCHOOL SUCCESSFUL. Under glorious weather conditions, excellent organisation marked the fifteenth anmial fixture of the Sandon Sports Club, held at the recreation grounds, Sanson, on Saturday. In the primary school section, Levin District High School A team won the McKelvie Shield, for primary schools, with 46 i points, Nbxt in order were Kopane 34J, Sanson 294, Lytton Street 23i, Parewanui 21, Levin District High School B 16, Levin District High School C 10, Stanway 7. SECONDARY SCHOOLS TENNIS. LEVIN PLAYERS PROMINENT. I The annual tennis tournament of' secondary schools, under the auspices of the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association, opened : at Palmerston North on Saturday, pupils from the Palmerston North Girls’. and Boys’ High Schools, Foilding Agricultural High \ School, Convent High School, Palmerston North Technical School, Levin and Woodville District High. Schools participating. Through the late arrival of some oi the players and delay through light Showers the tournament was not concluded, and at 5 o’clock Technical High School girls were leading for the Inne;and Oakley Cup with 22 points, Levii girls being second with 21 and Girls High School next with 15. In the boys’ section Palmerston North High School must win the G. H. Bennett Cup, having 18 points to their credit, their representatives being easily the outstanding players. No tournament was held last year on account of the epidemic, Levin High School being the holders of both cups. In the girls’ singles M. Karauti won all her games in the first three' rounds and qualifies in the semi-final:*’ E. Attwood, who emerged in the second round, was unbeaten in her matches and will meet M. Karauti in the semifinal. J. Wehipeihana was eliminated in the first round and D. Scott in the third. Playing in the girls’ doubles, M. Karauti and J. Wehipeihana were successful in reaching the semi-finals, which have yet to be played, but E.

Attwood and D. Scott were eliminated in their semi-final. In the boys’ singles A. Donnelly and H. Elsinore were beaten in the second round, while D. Blenkhorn did not pass the first. In the doubles they were more successful, Blenkhorn and Elsmore qualifying for the final. Donnelly and Morgan were eliminated in the .semifinal.
