Oratory Wins Thompson. Railway to Laughing Lass. (By*Telegrapn —Press Association.) The autumn meeting of the Wellington Racing Club was opened at Trentham to-day in overcast, but fine warm, weather. The track was in excellent order and the going was fast. Both the gates and totalisator showed a satisfactory increase over the corresponding day last year, when the weather was unfavourable. An inquiry was held after the running of the Thompson Handicap into the check met by Strctto and it was found to have been accidental, no action being taken. The totalisator handled £41,602 (win £18,637, place £22,965), representing an increase of £13,403 10s over the total for the first day last year.
