The directors of the United Press Association yesterday appointed Mr. T, M. Hinkley, at present manager of the Sydney branch, to the position of manager of the head office in New Zealand. Mr. A. R. Cameron, of the head office, has been - appointed to succeed Mr. Hinkley in Sydney.

The appointment of Mr James Henry Fowler as Controller and AuditorGeneral was announced by the ActingPrime Minister (Hon. P. Fraser at the conclusion of a Cabinet meeting last nig'ht. Mr. Fowler, who has been Deputy-Controller and Auditor-General for the past 15 years, succeeds the late Colonel G. F. C. Campbell.—Press Association.

I After having conducted a lengthy i tour in Ota go, where he has been con- [ tinuing his campaign for compensated prices on behalf vf the New Zealand Farmers' Union, Colonel S. J. E. Closey returned to his home in Levin early this week. At the end of the week he will depart for Wairarapa, and in June wil contimie his campaign in Canterbury.

I The fact that Mr. S. Seiyers, of the district staff of Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., had recently been transfered to Wanganui, "where he has taken up a managerial position for the same firm, was mentioned at the annual general meeting of the Levin branch oT the Farmers' Uni,on last evening. The suggestion was brought forward that Mr. Seivers should be made the recipient of a presentation from the farming community of the Levin district, and a small committee was set up to further die matter.
