DISPUTE IN CHEMICAL MANURE WORKS.
80 MEN WALK OFF THEIR JOBS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Last Night. A dispute over the conditions of employment of four men in the despatch department of the Westfield chemical manure works of Kempthorne, Prosser and Company’s New Zealand Drug Company, Limited, resulted in a complete stoppage of work in the department shortly after 11 a.m. when about SO men walked off their jobs. A meeting of the men was subsequently held and the secretary of the Otahuhu Chemical Manure Workers ’ Union, Mr. W. Miller, arranged for issues concerning wages to be brought before the Conciliation Council in Auckland to-morrow pending the result of which, the men would resume work. The union embraces workers in three other works: Otahuhu, Te Repapa and Huntly.
