Senor Delvayo, before going to Valencia, said he was never more convinced that Madrid could not be taken. Meanwhile, the insurgents are massing north-west of Madrid and ■ it is believed the capital is on the eve of a new onslaught.' The Government guns are desperately shelling the enemy concentration. The insurgents have responded twice, shelling Madrid. A Valencia message says that, fighting their way with hand grenades and dynamite, the Government forces have arrived within 400 yards of the provincial Government building at Oviedo. A Salamanca message says that Signor Cantalubo, the Italian Ambassador, presented his credentials and assured General Franco of the depth of Italy’s love for the new Spain. EX-KING AND QUEEN RECONCILED. Received Thursday, 1 a.m. LONDON, March 3. The Daily Telegraph’s Rome correspondent reports that the audience at a fashionable Rome cinema was astonished to see cx-Jviug Alfonso of Spain and Queen Victoria Eugenie who have been parted and estranged for many years, sitting together in the stalls. Alfonso was looking extremely pleased, arrived and departed separately, but the meeting is believed to be a prelude to their reconciliation. Well-informed quarters even suggest that when General Franco has taken Madrid the ex-King and Queen may be invited to return to Spain. BREAD RATIONED. (Received This Day, 10.25 a.m.) MADRID, March 3. Fierce fighting is reported on the Jarama-Oviedo fronts. Oviedo, it is reported, has been surrounded by Government forces. Broad is being rationed in Madrid and purchases restricted to ten ounces daily per person.
