NEW GEAR BOX.
Brief particulars have been received of an automatically operating- selfchanging gear box for which patents have been taken out by an Italian engineer. The device consists of two groups of six-toothed wheels always in mesh; these automatically select the appropriate gear ratio through the action of centrifugal force. Speed change is gradual and completely self-acting, and all the driver has to do is to engage the clutch on starting and, whilst running, to use the accelerator in order to slip from one gear to another.
