ROAD SAFETY COUNCIL CHOSEN
WILL GET TO WORK WITHOUT DELAY.

The Minister of.. Transport to-night announced that following the recent road safety conference held in Wellington he had selected the personnel of the proposed Road Safety Council as follows: Mr. W. A. O’Callaghan, North Island Motor Union; Mi;. J. S, Hawkes. South Island Motor Union; Mr. C. J. Talbot, counties; Mr. M. F. Luckie, municipalities; Mr. J. P. Cousins, New Zealand ' Motor Traders’ Federation; Mr. F. C. Spratt, New Zealand Alliance; Mr. G. R. Ashbridge, New Zealand Educational Institute; Dr. J. W. Mcllraith, Education Department; Mr. J. Wood, Main Highways Board; Mr. J. H. .Terrain, State Fire and Accident Office, and the Commissioner of Transport. Mr. Semple said the personnel had been drawn from many vp'lks of life and he anticipated the council would prove a valuable organisation in advising the Government on the problem of road safety. “No time will be lost in getting the Council to work. There is a lot to bo done and I propose calling the first meeting about the middle of the month. As Minister of Transport I will preside at most of these meetings whenever possible,’’ the Minister added.
