McCREADY WINS AGAIN.
LAST-MINUTE SURPRISE FOR PORTLAND FARMER <By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. Unexpectedly turning the tables on Bob Kruse at tihe very moment when the redoubtable Portland farmer appeared certain of obtaining the deciding fall, Earl McCready to-night added yet another win to his unbroken series of wrestling successes in the Dominion. An enthusiastic crowd watched the bout which went to tihe sixth round. The falls were even when Kruse sent McCready out of the ropes and threw him as he climbed back, then dumped him smartly and followed him to the floor to pin ihim. To everybody’s surprise McCready rolled over on the mat with his opponent under him and pressed Kruse’s shoulders to the mat, reversing the situation that had seemed already decided.
McCready obtained the first fall with a flying body scissors off tlhe ropes in the third round. Kruse, who was using fust rough tactics, showed a remarkable range of wristlocks and arm-bars and took his fall with a wrist-lock in the fifth round. Boesch Beats Elliot EYE TROUBLE AFFECTS NEW ZEALANDER INVERCARGILL, Last Night. A wrestling contest here to-night between Paul Boesch and King Elliot was won by Boesch in the seventh round. Elliot had obtained a submission fall with a Boston crab in the fifth round and Boesch had equalised with a body press following two drop kicks. In the seventh Elliot, who it was announced, was greatly worried by his eyes before the bout started, appeared to lie unable to see when he came out for the seventh round. He was unable to continue and the decision was awarded to Boesch. Blomfield Draws With Leathers AUCKLAND, Last Night. In a professional heavyweight contest “Lofty” Blomfield, of Auckland, .1(5.10, drew with Bam Leathers, ot America, IG.O, each gaining a fall. Leathers won the first fall in the sixth round with a figure four headlock, in which Blomfield protested against a strangle. In the next round Blomfield won a fall with a frog hold.
