RECORD BUTTER-FAT TEST.

THE QUALITY OF THE FRIESIAN,

At yesterday’s annual meeting of tlie New Zealand Friesian Association it was announced that an outstanding member of the breed, Fendalton Pansy Posch 3rd, owned by Messrs Royds and Williams, Five Rivers, Southland, had just completed her period of tost with an average test of 5.31, a record for the breed, if not for the world. During the period of the test the cow produced 11,083.41bs of milk and 588.801bs of butter-fat. While the milk production, said Mr H. E. Johnson (president), was not as high as that of other notable performers, the test indicated that the breed did as well in the colder climate of the South Island as under the warmer North Island conditions.' |- Commenting on the outstanding per- [ formances of the breed generally, Mr Uohnson said that it was gratifying to the association to record that an export trade of pedigree stock was gradually being built up, which indicated that oversea breeders were beginning to look to New Zealand for their new ! stock. In this connection he announced that an application for membership had been received from the Fiji Pastoral Company, Ltd. This was the first overseas application for membership received for many years.
