WEDDING AT ST. MARY’S CHURCH.

» DUGUID—PYKE. ) Considerable interest was centred in the marriage of Frances Cawood, daughter of Mr C. H. Pyke and the late Mrs Pyke, Queen Street, Levin, and grand-daughter of the late Hon. Vincent Pyke, ex. M.H.R. of Central Otago, which took place last Saturday afternoon, 13th June, at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Levin. The bridegroom was William, youngest son of 'the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Duguid, of Glasgow. The church had been decorated by friends of tne bride and the service which was fully choral was performed by the Rev. J. C. Davies. The bride, who was given away by her father, Wore a lovely gown of parchment panne velvet, the bodice of which was fashioned on empire lines. The skirt was slightly moulded to the figure and finished witli a short train. The exquisite veil of Honitan lace (lent by Mrs Herbert Deoiton) was arranged becomingly with a pleated tulle coronet and her toilet was completed by a bouquet composed of freezias, rosebuds and maidenhair. The only bridesmaid, Miss Lynne York, also made a charming picture in a frock of amber shaded velvet, the neckline being finished with realistic ichrystanthemuins in the same colour and a deeper toning. A similar blending of colour was carried out in her hat, the crown of which was of pressed velvet flowers with halo effect brim of amber tulle. Her posy was of rosebuds, golden chrysanthemums, freezias, autumn leaves and softly finished with tulle.

The duties of best man were carried out by ilr Arthur Vizard and Messrs G, Vickers and J. Denton were the ushers. Mr H. L, Jenkins presided at the organ. V St. Mary’s Hall, where the reception was held, was artistically decorated by #he bride’s friends and the scene of a very happy gathering. Mr. Pyke was assisted by Mrs. W. G. Vickers ceiving the guests, Mrs, Vickers wearing a handsome black georgette frock patterned in white, with black hat, and carrying a posy of violets, ranunculas, roses and maiden-hair. The usual toasts were honoured, that of “The King" and thq “Bride and Bridegroom’’ being proposed by Rev. J. C. Davies. The “Bride’s Father’’ was the toast of Mr H. Denton. Later the bride travelled in a frock of grey flecked with delphinium blue, the latter shade being carried out on collar and cuffs. A small hat of matching material completed her smart suit. Mr and Mrs Duguid left for their honeymoon in the north amidst the enthusiastic good wishes from their friends.

Among the guests were: Miss Pyke, (cousin of the bride), black frock and hat with moleskin coat; Mr. and Mrs Howard Edwards, Wanganui, (uncle and aunt of the bride), the latter in a green ensemble, with velour hat to match; Mrs J. C. Davies, prune suit with hat to tone; Mr and Mrs Whitehead (Tokomaru), Mrs and Mrs Herbert Denton, Mrs Duckworth, Mrs E. M. Twistleton, Miss N. Twistleton, Mrs N.
