HOROWHENUA RUGBY UNION.

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Horowhenua Rugby Union (Inc.) was held in the Oxford Tea Rooms last evening, the President, Mr J. Gillespie occupying the chair. There were also present: Messrs C. R. J. Inder, A. Gillespie-,. E. Mulcahy, D. Richards, A. Richards,,A. 'J. Devonshire, S. Hooper, Neville Winiata, W. Seymour, J. W. Rimmer (treasurer) and J. Casey (secretary). MAORI v. PAKEHA MATCH. Mr Casey’s notice of motion that the Maori v. Pakeha match be played on King’s Birthday, June 23rd, instead of on July Bth was dealt with. Mr Devonshire pointed out that there were several other attractions in the district on the King’s Birthday, It was People’s Day at the Manawatu Winter Show and the Wanganui races were being held. These fixtures would take a certain amount of people away from Foxton and for that reason he was against it.

Mr D. Richards said he had been speaking to several Foxton people and they considered that a good “gate” would result if the game was played on King’s Birthday. Mr Inder stated that Horowhenua played Bush on July Ist and the Maori v. Pakeha match had to be played before then in order to pick the representative team. If a good “gate” could not be obtained at Foxton ho thought the game should be played at Levin. The President said that it had already been decided to give Foxton the match. The meeting decided by a majority Vote to play the game at Foxton on King’s Birthday. General arrangements wore then made. Mr A. Richards was appointed manager of the Pakeha team and Mr Neville Winiata the Maori team. Mr W. Neville will be referee. Training will’ take place at Kuku for members of the two teams on the Thursday night and Sunday afternoon prior to the match. Game to start at 2.30 p.m. ut Easton Park. Bus for players leaves Otaki 12.30 p.m., Manakau 12.45 p.m., Kuku 12.55 p.m., and Levin at 1 p.m. BEBBINGTON SHIELD MATCH. Arrangements for the Bebbington Shield challenge against Bush at Pahiutua on July Ist were then dealt with. It was decided to select twentyone players to make the trip after the Maori v. Pakeha match. Bus leaves Levin at 9.15 a.m. Mr D. Richards cas appointed manager of the Horowhenua repiesentatives. The Bush Union will be written to and asked for a Manawatu referee. ADMISSION OF BASKETBALL PLAYERS. The Shannon Borough Council wrote in reference to the admission of basketball players to Easton Park for practice, and stated that it did not desire that they he charged, but it would be necessary to insist that they wear a playing kit or some such distinguishing token.

Jacob; Athletic v. Shannon, at Shannon, Air L. Dalzell; Aloutoa Estate v. Foxton, at Foxton, Mr T. AlcDonald. Thirds; Athletic v. Shannon, at i Shannon, Air T. Kohika. j TRANSFERS SOUGHT. I The Kuku Club wrote asking for the 1 cleaiances of W. Seymour, C. Seymour I K. Wehipeihana and R. Pinihira as the) Hui Alai juniors had disbanded. Ihe Hui Alai Club advised that it had again failed to raise a junior team and was thus compelled to withdraw from the competition. The Club asked :f any of the players who were financial members be given a transfer. One member would like to play for the Athletic Club. There were one or two who could join the senior ranks, but the others would be without a game lor the remainder of the season if transfers could not be secured.

A lengthy discussion took place on this subject, but none of the transfers were in order according to the rules. The Moutoa Estate Club applied again for the transfer of W. Matthews from Foxton. Club owing to the fact that the player was working on Moutoa Estate, about seven miles from Foxton. - Granted. FRIENDLY GAME. The Moutoa Estate Club asked for poimission to send two teams to Seatoun on King’s Birthday.—Granted. GENERAL

The Foxton Club was fined 7s (id for fielding three players in wrong coloured jerseys on Saturday. It was decided to draw attention to several clubs that they had not so far numbered their teams. The "gate” at Manakau ground on Saturday totalled £9 2s 6d. Owing to their default the Hui Mai junior club were fined 4s, the cost of the gatekeepers as they did not notify in sufficient time to stop the game.
