A KITCHEN EVENING.
A very pleasant time was spent in the Kimberley Hall last evening when a large number of friends gathered to further honour Miss Doris Pickering, whose marriage is to take place on Easter Monday. The function, which was in the form of a kitchen tea, was arranged by Mrs. A. Crowe, assisted by Kimberley residents. Dancing was the chief item of amusement, a Monte Carlo competition being won by Mr. J. and Miss Oak. A cause of much amsuement was a pig competition, Mr. E. Yuille being the winner. A basket of “mystery parcels” was handed round and the guest of the evening received a very nice prize. Miss Pickering was also presented with a posy from the Kimberley residents. A dainty supper was provided by the ladies after which Miss Pickering was called upon to open the parcels which her friends had brought. Mr. E. W. Pickering - , on behalf of his daughter, thanked those who had arranged the evening and all those present for their good wishes. Dancing was resumed until the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought the function to a close in the small hours.
