CHARLIE CHAPLIN'S COMEBACK
PREMIERE OF MOST AMBITIOUS . FILM (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) Received Thursday, 9.50 p.m. NEW YORK, Feb. 5. Charlie Chaplin's first film for five years, "Modern Times," was given its world premiere here tonight. In many respects it is his most ambitious film. It is a social satire of which the machine ?:e is the object. The best moments, however, consist principally of old familiar tricks. There is very little dialogue, although he breaks his rule and sings a song the words of which are gibberish. He composed the music, wrote, produced and directed the film, which has been well received by the critics.
