Tho second reading of tho Cotton 'Spindles Bill which proposes to reduce competition by establishing a spindles board with power to borrow up to £2,000,000 for the purpose of buying up redundant cotton-spinning plant was carried in the Commons by 237 to 149. The services of the loan and other charges in connection with the scheme are to be provided out of the proceeds ••of-an obligatory levy on cotton-spin-ning machinery.
Several Lancashire Conservative members opposed the second reading.
