FATALITY NEAR MANAKAU.

TE HORO RESIDENT FALLS PROM

LORRY.

An unfortunate accident happened to a young man named Henry William Dobson while returning in a motorlorry from Palmerston yesterday afternoon. He had left To Horo" in the morning with Mr. Albert A. Rolfe, a lorry-driver who was on his way to Palmerston Xorth with a load of Mr. G. Lawrence's furniture. After delivering the load Mr. Rolfo, with. Mr. Dobson, left for home. Mr. Donald BulJen also accompanied them, whilo at Levin a man named Stuart Johnson, an employee at O'Brien's mill, Otaki, was given a lift, Mr. Rolfc left Palmerston at about 2 p.m. and just after passing Manakau Dobson expressed a desire to ride in the back and accordingly did so. He then sat in the back with Johnson. Deceased was leaning' round the cab speaking to Mr. Rolfo when he overbalanced and fell to tho road. The lorry was immediately stopped when it was found that the young man was unconscious. He was taken to the Manakau Hotel and given a stimulant, and then conveyed to Dr. Atmore's surgery but before arrival he had expired. The deceased, who was a single man,, aged 24 years, had only been with Mr. Rolfe for a month. He was a resident of Wanganui, where he had resided with his mother for some time. Tho latter has been on a visit to Te Horo and was in Otaki when the accident occurred. Mrs. Ben Rolfe is a sister to the deceased, while <'i brother resides in Wanganui. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved relatives. An inquest will be held this afternoon.
