FRUITGROWERS IN CONFERENCE.
QUESTION OF GRADE FRUIT CONSIDERED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON.,, This Day. The Fruitgrowers' Conference carried the Marlborough's remit expressing* the view 'that as the quantity of good grade fruit was increasing, fruit below a reasonable- standard should not be sold for human consumption, Uemits were also carried asking for a more stringent inspection of fruit and more care in the handling of soft fruits. A motion was carried approving of setting u]> of a committee, representative of the Federation, the Fruit Board and the Horticulture Division in dissociation with the Executive Commission of Agriculture, in order to give effect, where possible and desirable, to the findings of the conference and other matters affecting the industry, especially the local marketing of fruit. Local marketing control was not to be a matter for the Committee.
