LEADER OF BRITISH LABOUR PARTY. OPPOSITION TO USE OF FORCE. Mr George Lansbury to resign the leadership before tlie Labour Conference at Brighton cm September 30th.

A calble message received on Tuesday stated that Mr Lansbury declared that he was still opposed to the use of armed force either by the League of. Nations or individual nations. "After the Trade Union Congress debate on Abyssinia," said the Labour leader, "I found my position most difficult. Let my colleagues understand that I will cheerfully make way for someone better able to* voice their views on this matter."

Sir Stafford 'C'ripps declares that the party does not want Mr Lansbury to resign.

ISir Walter Citrine, general secretary of the Trades Union Congress, expressed the Ojpinion that Mr Lansbury has •created a difficult situation, and suggested that his resignation was a matter for the Labour Party and not the trade unions.
