Jim Ferrier Beaten in N.S.W. Golf Semi-final
KEANE WINS WITH STYMIE ON LAST GREEN (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) Reecived Thursday, 11 p.m. July 11. The semi-finals of the New South Wales amateur golf championship were played to-day on a wet course. S. A. Keane beat J. Ferrier one up and H. W. Hattersley beat M. Herford 9/8. The match between Keane and Ferrier was a magnificent one, neither player securing more than a hole advantage in the afternoon round. Keane eventually "-on by stymieing his opponent. However, his form was more consistent than Ferrier's and his victory was well deserved. In the semi-finals of the Victorian women's golf championship Mrs. Sloan Morpeth beat Miss Mona McLeod 4 and 3, and Mrs. Enos Shaw beat Mrs. Gordon Johnstone 4 and 3. The final will be played to-morrow. Still Another Record Broken Received Thursday, 9.50 p.m. AMSTERDAM, July 11. The South African, Brews, retained the Dutch open title with 275, ten strokes ahead of his nearest rival. His score included a record-breaking third round of 65. His other rounds were 09, 71, 70.
