British or American?
PACIFIC ISLANDS AS VALUABLE AIRPORTS (By Telegraph-Press Assn.--Copyright) .Received Thursday, 0.50 p.m. LONDON, July 11. The Daily Herald states that; jth* British, and American Governments ;tre considering reports that a United States coastguard cutter landed men on Baker and Howland Islands (in the Pacific) and surveyed thsm as possible aerodrome sites. It is thought in London that the party landed erroneously, believing the United States owned the. islands, which may be important landing places in tho event of the establishment of an airway between Jlawaii and Australia.
