IHAKARA WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
JULY MEETING. The July mooting of the Ihakara W.I. drew a good attendance oif members. The meeting opened with the singing of the Institute ode, Mrs Brooks, vice-president, occupying' tho chair in the unavoidable absence of Mrs Lancaster. Congratulations were extended to Mrs Brown and Miss Laing upon their success in gaining second and third honours respectively in the Group Bally competition, for best soft toy.
. The demonstration for the afternoon, .on brass work was ably given by Mrs i Maclean, of Paraparaumu, who was I accorded a hearty vote of thanks for jhet interesting exposition. In the senior poiuts competition for tho month, for best beret, Mesdamos Hensman and Procter tied for first place, while Mrs R. W. Home was second. The junior award was won by Miss Mark, with Miss Cotter second- A further "Proverb" competition was Won by the Paraparaumu visitor, Mrs Maclean. Community singing was also indulged in for a short period, while afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostesses, Mesdames J. H. Etolston, Spicer, Doig, and Spiers. The singing of the National Anthem closed the meeting.
