Taking part in the Horowhenua Rugby Unions senior championship on Saturday, Hui Mai defeated Punahau, while Wanderers lost to Shannon, and Fire Brigade were beaten by Otaki. Athletic held the bye. The match at Manakau between Hui Mai and Punahau carried unusual interest and after a game characterised by many spectacular movements, the former carried the day by a narrow margin of .points.
