EUGENICS CONDEMNED BY THE POPE.
MUST NOT FOLLOW GERMANY. (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) VATICAN CITY, May 24. The Pope, when receiving representatives of the Hospital Congress, condemned eugenics and expressed distress that the subject had been included in the congress agenda, especially when a delegate stated that every country would follow Germany's example. He hoped that this would never happen. If it did the world would return to the horrors of ancient paganism, which produced beauty in art and immorality in social life. WHAT HAPPENS IN GERMANY. Received Sunday, 9.50 p.m. BERLIN, May 25. During the first year of the sterilisation law 56,224 persons were treated, of whom 42,903 were males. The Court of Eugenics rejected 3692 applicants.
