Australian Racing CAULFIELD GUINEAS WON BRILLIANTLY BY THEO SIR SIMPER MAKES IT FOUR ON END Received Sunday, 7 p.m. , MELBOURNE, Oct. 13. The weather was fine and there was a good attendance at the V.A.T.C. races. Raskassa led always in the Orby Hui'dles. He has had two wins and a second in his last three starts.

Gay' Lover led for the last three furlongs in the Debutant Stakes for colts and geldings. He has had two wins in two starts and cost 450 guineas as a yearling. Wise Bay was troubled by a penalty. The New Zealanders, Latharna and Teak, made promising showings. Matinee finished " brilliantly in the Debutant Stakes for fillies. She has had two wins in two starts and cost 160 guineas as a yearling. The New Zealander, Lady Primrose, had every show but made a feeble finish. Overcoming the alleged Caulfield hoodoo, Hallmark had a brilliant win in the Caulfield Stakes. He has now won 141 races and has had only two wigs at 'Caulfield but many defeats. He has won stakes amounting to approximately £22,000. This was trainer Holt’s seventh win in this race and rider Dempsey’s fourth. Hallmark is a likely runner in the Caulfield Cup. Previous Stakes winners to capture the big event include Eurythmic, High Syce, Manfred and Amounis.

Theo was last at one stage and finished brilliantly in the Caulfield Guineas. Hyperion caused a surprise and Aztec improved on Randwick form. Titanium was knocked up, as was Radian Star, who made the pace. The winner was bred in New Zealand. Sir John ran a poor race. Broad Arrow enhanced his chance as a Cup candidate in the Power Handicap. St. Vaiorey and Caterina finished strongly. Oriel made a poor run and did well to get fourth place. Upokoa riki faded out after being prominent early. Epigram received a slight knock when galloping this morning and has been relieved of the Toorak engagement.

Sir Simper gave one of the best performances seen in years to win the Toorak Handicap. He was last five furlongs from home and won in the last stride. This is his fourth successive $ victory.
