WERAROA DEFEAT OTAKI. LEVIN DRAW WITH SHANNON. The opening of if lie cricket season unci the coinjpetition for the Hall Shield in the Horowhemia district took place on Saturday in .spring weather. Weraroa journeyed to Otaki and defeated Otaki by the sulbsitantial margin of 92 runs. Levin drew with Shannon, and Te Horo defeated Paraparamnu. LEVIN v. SHANNON. In the garnie played on the Sportsground at Weraroa, Shannon went to .the wickets first. Gee and Mabey opened very cautiously and took a long time to make runs. Gee was top not'dl cr with 07 runs, the only other players to reach double figures being Ma,bey (23) and Porter (15). Bowling for Levin Keith Hudson finished with the splendid figures of six wickets for 37 runs.
