TRAGEDY AT FEILDING.
WELL-KNOWN HORSE-TRAINER. At. an early hour yesterday morning, James Mitcheli ,single, aged 56 years, and following the occupation of a horse-trainer, was found with his throat cut and dead in a paddock on Kawa Kawa Road, Feilding, The police were summoned, and Sergeant Angland, with Constable Ruddle,, accompanied by Dr. K. G. Sahnoncl, proceeded to the scene, but Mitchell was beyond aid. There were several cuts about the throat, and lying beside the body was a blood-stained razor. It was learned that Mitchell recently recovered from an attack of influenza, and friends stated that he had been somewhat depressed as a result of ais illness, but had not given an indication of an intention to do away with himself. Ho was employed by Mr. Hector Pearson ,of Kawa Kawa Road, looking after some horses. He rose at 4.15 o’clock yesterday morning and went out. When ho failed to return a search wbiS instituted, with the result above stated. Ho has relations living in New Zealand.
