OTAKI HEALTH CAMP.

APPEAL FOR SUBSCRIPTIONS. To ensure the health camp at Otald being kept open throughout the year and to care for 500 children over the 12 months, the Wellington Children’s Health Camp Association requires an annual income of £2OOO, and is making an appeal to the public for support in the form of yearly or half-yearly subscriptions.

The response of the children in improved health, due to the sunshine, fresh air, proper food, regular habits and early hours has (been very striking, and is evidence of the great benefit the camp conveys. (Children do not miss their schooling as the Education Board has constituted the camp a school, and supplies two teachers, who conduct the lessons out-of-doors under the fits in fine weather.

The balance-sheet presented at the recent annual meeting reveals the strict economy exercised. The staff practically gives its services in a voluntary capacity. The cost per child per week, including all overhead charges, is a little more than 10s. The health camp is non-denominational, the children’s needs being their recommendation, irrespective of creed, colour, race or position. If funds permit the Association desires to place 100 under-nourished children in the camp over the Christmas holidays.
