KOPUTAROA TUG-OF-WAR AND DANCE.

A real gala night has been arranged at Koputaroa for Monday, September 17th, when the Koputaroa School Committee are running a grand tug-of-war and dance in aid of funds. Of great interest in the tug-of-war contest will be the first appearance of Cooper Bros. ’ team (Wairararapa), which is recognised as one of the leading teams in New Zealand. The Committee are to be congratulated for the opportunity they are giving to all followers of tug-of-war in the district to see this champion team in action. The Cooper and Koputaroa teams have met in contests on four previous occasions, with two wins each, so this contest will decide 'which is the best of the two teams. The following teams have notified their intention of competing: Whakaronga (2), Makerua, Mangahao and Taylor’s, there also being prospects of some of the other Palmerston teams entering. The Committee would be very pleased to see some of the Levin teams entering, as there are a number of good teams in Levin quite capable of holding their own. The tug-of-war will be intersipersed with dancing and as the tug-of-war contests is a knock-out competition there will be more dancing than usual at this contest. The dance music is in the hands of the Felix Boys, who need no introduction to the dancers of the district. Further particulars will be advertised later, but don’t forget the date, Monday, 17th September. Keep this night free.
