OPERATIC SOCIETY’S DANCE.

SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. The joy-night held under the auspices of the Levin Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society in the Ohau Institute Hall last evening proved to be an outstanding success, the large crowd which attended rather over-taxing the capacity of the dancing space. A free bus from Levin was well patronised and the gathering included representation from as far away as Te Horo and Koputaroa. The floor was in excellent order and music of a high order was supplied by Eikihana’s orchestra and they had to respond to a number of encores. The stage had been prettily decorated and served accommodation for non-dancers. During the evening two novelty dances, which provided keen competition were held. The winner of the Lucky Spot dance was Miss Hislop and Mr W. Bowling while in the Monte Carlo, the same gentleman and Miss MacFarlane were the lucky ones. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr H. J. McLeavey and under his direction the programme was kept going merrily until the small hours of the morning. A very tasty and generous supper added much to the enjoyment of dancers.
