Mr James Thorn, national secretary of the Labour Party, has consented to nomination as Labour candidate for the Thames seat at the next election. At present he is organising a tour throughout the electorate. The seat is at present held by Mr A. M. Samuel (Coalition Reform). Mr Stoddard King, author of "There's a long, long trail," which became the marching song of thousands of troops during the War, in June died at Spokane, Washington. Mr King, who was 43 years of age, wrote his song when he was a student at Yale University.
