British Cars Going Weil In Trials on Continent

STIFF TESTS OVER ALPINE PASSES. (British Official Wireless.) Received Friday, 7 p.m. RUGBY, Aug. 3. Four of the seven competitors who so far have lost no marks in the international alpine trial are the British entrants, named two Rileys, one M.G.M. and one Fraser-Nash. The Riley is leading the 12-horsepower class and the M. G. Magnus the 9-horsepower class. Of one hundred and twenty-one starters, 101 cars remain in the trial. The leading position for the women’s prize is at present held by Miss Champney, driving a Riley. The,only other competitor whose chances are considered good is Mrs. Gough, in a Singer. To-day’s test on the road from Turin to Grenoble includes the passage over the Galadier, which is considered the most difficult of the mountain passes in the whole trial.
