ASHBURTON COUNTY COUNCIL DISCUSSION ASHBURTON, Last Night. ■ A, long discussion on the question of the return received from the expenditure' on relief work took place at the County Council meeting. One member affirmed that a great deal of work had not returned in labour < 2u per'cent, of the money it cost. In reference to the decision of the Ashburton Relief Workers’ Union against entering camps, it was decided'that if the men adhered to their decision, the council would put all relief work on a piece basis, and if the camps were not filled the men would in future have to pay the cost of their transport to and from their job s.
