Taranaki Defeat Dannevirke
IN NORDEN CUP GAME ELTHAM, Last Night. The Taranaki hockey representatives at Eltham to-day successfully defended the Nordcn cup. defeating Dannevirke by 5 goals to 2 in a fast and brilliant game on a dry ground before a fair attendance. The winners owe their victory to superior combination and stick work, in which Page was always conspicuous, well supported by S. Betts, Surge nor. Watson. Duncan and V. Betts. Dannevirke. facing the sun in the first half, wore rather at a disadvantage. but made u better showing on the change-over. Their most conspicuous players were Hand, Bcrrctt, Dalzcll and D. Tolmio. Scorers for Taranaki were S. Betts (3), Watson (2), and for Dannevirke Dalzell and D. Tolmio. Misdirected hits lost Taranaki a surprising number of goals, Surgenor driving one vards over the top of the net. The referees were Mr J. Ebbetts for Taranaki, and Mr R. A. Parton (Palmerston North) for Dannevirke. The visitors wore entertained at dinner at Eltham to-night. The holders will next defend the eup against Waipa at Waitara.
