LONG AWAITED 'GRAND HOTEL’
MAGNIFICENT ALL STAB CAST IN VICKI BAUM’S ENTHRALLING STORY OF BERLIN.
After seeing “Grand Hotel” which starts at the Regent Theatre on Monday, 24th July, one will be forced to the opinion that the first rank of America ’s actors and expert photography can, when properly used in a suitable scenario, produce a film in which nothing can be found lacking. The plot, which is taken from Vicki Baum’s novel, is one of human emotion and temperament rather than brute action. A handful of people take rooms in a great Berlin hotel, people with the rational instincts of their t arious types —and the story is launched. How they react to circumstances is skilfully told as the vivid scenes unfold. The magnificent cast includes Greta Garbo, John Barrymore, Joan Crawford, Wallace Beery, Lionel Barrymore, Lewis Stone and Jean Hersholt.
