BLIGHT IN LUPIN.

(To the Editor). (Sir, —I hope all the coast farmers will join in, against ih& proposal of the Manawatu .Rabbit Board to introduce a blight into lupin on. the sand dunes. Lupin is invaluable as a .preventive against sand drift; nothing can take its place, and, it will be absolutely deplorable if the suggestion of the Manawatu Babbit Board is permitted to be given effect to. It is stated that Mr W. H. Field, M.P., has offered to supply the blight and I am writing to Mr Linklater, member for Manawatu, asking him to take what steps he thinks necessary to induce his colleague not to carry out the intention. I have no hesitation in saying that the farmers of Manawatu would be well advised if they asked their member to assist them to have the services of Cawthron or Massey College requisitioned to find out something that will destroy the blight that has lately unfortunately appeared in the lupin further south. Hoping that other farmers and the people in the Manawatu who realise the importance of stopping sand drift along o'ur coasts will join in this protest against the most injurious proposal made and apparently approved by the Manawatu Rabbit Board at its recent meeting.—Yours, etc. EDW'AiED .'NEWMAN.
