Disposal of Surplus Butter

IF QUOTA ARRANGED

MR COATES SEES A SOLUTION. NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. A significant statement that in the event of a butter quota the surplus could be disposed of was made by the Right Hon. J. G. Coates at Hawera last night. Mr. Coates said he was not prepared to indicate how this could be done, but he was much happier than he was a few months ago. The problem of a few months ago, said Mr. Coates, was what to do with the surplus if a quota were adopted. “I cannot put all my cards on the table,” he added.

The prolslem could be solved to-day; if a surplus occurred it be arranged for. “It may become necessary,” he said, “to fall into line with a general policy of restricting imports to the British market. If it does I will be much happier than I thought 1 would have been a few months ago, ”
