AMERICAN CONFIDENCE IN THE DOLLAR. (Received This Day, 8.45 a.m.) , LONDON, June 29. fefforts on the part of France and Other gold countries to' secure at least ' moral support of Britain to their position have not yet materialised. It is understood that the gold countries de■aifed the Rt. Hon. J. Ramsay MacDbn.aid to declare that Britain would view -with regret any further depreciation •of national currencies. Britain, howi .-ever, is reluctant to take such steps, . and prefers to act .as mediator between •the two extremes of currency groups. The British delegates are still striving to persuade tiie Americans that nearly de facto stabilisation is needed to give the Conference success, but the ..American delegates believe that the .dollar Will soon reach 4.50 to the pound 40c- even go over parity (4.86).
